you must go read Elif Batuman’s epic essay “A Divine Comedy” immediately. and not only because she got the phrase “all the thousand and one douchebags of Florence” into Harper’s. it’s worth going to a newsstand if, unconscionably, you aren’t already a subscriber. I’ve read it twice this week and I’m not yet satiated.
